What is phishing and how do I protect myself from it? 📝
Phishing is a dishonest way that cybercriminals use to trick you into revealing personal information such as passwords or credit card, documents ID and number of bank accounts. They do this by sending fake emails or directing you to fake websites.
How to prevent phishing
- Have good habits online and do not respond to links added to unsolicited emails or social networks.
- Do not open e-mail attachments that have not been requested.
- Protect your passwords and do not reveal them to anyone.
- Do not provide confidential information to anyone - on the phone, in person or via e-mail.
- Check the website URL (the site address). In many cases of phishing, the email address may seem legitimate, but the URL may be misspelled or the domain may be different (.com when it should be .gov).
- Keep your browser up to date and use security updates.
